Scraping of corrosion deposits can tell you if "sessile" (attached) MIC bacteria are present. These are the most important bacteria to be analyzed, as this group of bacteria are actually creating the microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Elemental analysis (by Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis) is also a very important tool to determine corrosion by-products and constitutes of the solid. This analysis gives insight as to what kind of and how the corrosion occurred. Please return sample with our 2 day, prepaid FedEx return label. A sterile bottle is included, in the kit, to assure a sterile containment until it reaches our laboratory. A full written report is available within 15 business days, after we have received it in the laboratory. This testing along with water testing, gives us a better understanding of the corrosion process occurring.
